Video Transcript

August 2nd will be three months. I’m down 70 pounds*, I came to see Dr. Baptista on my monthly visit and he saw me coming through his window, and he’s like your clothes are falling off of you. I’m like I know, so he laughed at me.

I’ve been struggling with my weight since I was a child. So I’ve lost weight, I’ve gained weight, I’ve been on just about every diet there possibly was. I knew I was gaining weight after I had my gallbladder out, and I thought you know 20 pounds I can lose 20 pounds it’s not a problem. 30 pounds, 30 pounds not a problem. 50 pounds, I can lose 50 pounds it’s not a problem. And finally I was just like you know what I’m just going to be happy with where I’m at and just not worry about it. All the while I’m taking medications, my health is not good and so I decided I need to do something about this. I know several of Dr. Baptista’s other clients and they’re good friends of mine, and they had very positive results. Dr. Baptista is fantastic, he’s probably the only surgeon I know that actually has a personality and actually talks to you… and I see him and he has time to talk to you. Another one of the reasons I decided to come and have Dr. Baptista do this surgery was that he sat with me and my family and we talked for hours about whether or not this was the right decision for me. And that’s something you don’t see a lot in a surgeon, usually you’ll see a surgeon for 10 minutes and then they’re gone. And we were very impressed with the personal care, and just the time that Dr. Baptista took to talk to me.

Surgery went well, I’ll say there was minimal recovery time. I had the surgery on a Friday and I actually went back to work on Monday. Even when I started eating a liquid diet I noticed that I could only finish half a can of soup or whatever I was eating. But then when I started eating real food I did notice that I could only eat a small amount of what I was eating.

I don’t have a lot of hunger. When you have hunger Dr. Baptista will talk to you about it, and that’s when you end up with a fill. You would think with a small amount of food that I do eat you would think that I do get hungry but I don’t. I haven’t had any real major issues with my lap band, so I’ve only seen positive results. If I had to give a negative result, I’ve had to buy clothes twice. Not only have I had to buy new clothes and not only have I lost 70 pounds, I’m no longer on three of my medications*. My doctor is ecstatic. Yesterday I had to actually tell my pharmacist that I don’t want three of the medications that he refills every month. I no longer have high blood pressure, I no longer have GERD and I’m very impressed with the results that I’ve received.

Update

This video was taken about a year ago, around August of last year. As of this year I will have had my band now for 1 year and 3 months, and I am very proud to say that I am down 150 pounds from my heaviest. Going to see Dr. Michael Baptista was one of greatest decisions of my life. Not only have I lost a lot of weight, I have gained an ally in a Doctor and a staff that cares! On the anniversary of my new life I posted this picture that tells the tale. Thank you Dr Baptista and all your staff for help me and Eric to succeed!
