Welcome to Florida Surgical Physicians, a bariatric surgical practice specializing in comprehensive solutions to those suffering from obesity and related diseases throughout North Florida and South Georgia. FSP is led by Dr. Michael Baptista, one of the most accomplished and experienced laparoscopic bariatric surgeons in the United States. Dr. Baptista has performed thousands of laparoscopic bariatric surgery procedures. He is trained and certified in placing both Lap-Band¨ and REALIZE™ gastric bands. He has placed the most REALIZE™ gastric bands of any surgeon in the state of Florida. He currently performs the majority of his surgeries through a small, single incision, which can be hidden inside the belly button for most people.
He and his staff pride themselves on not only delivering world-class skill during surgery, but also providing a caring and compassionate team of experts who believe in personal attention AFTER surgery to ensure the successful resolution of obesity and its accompanying diseases. Dr. Baptista is affiliated with Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, a facility that has earned a bariatric surgery Center of Excellence designation by the Surgical Review Corporation, the organization responsible for administering the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery’s Center of Excellence program. This designation was created to give prospective patients a helping hand in choosing the bariatric surgery center that is right for them. Centers of Excellence are signified by very stringent standards of care and superior outcomes when compared to other facilities without the certification.
